Starting Grant for a female Postdoc

A key concern at both the international and national level is the gender inequality that is still prevalent especially at the higher career levels in research. To increase the representation of female scientists in leadership positions and to foster the scientific independence we offer

one career-promoting grant for female Postdocs

This 2 year grant covers max. 25.000 € per calendar year (for consumables and/or a technical assistant) for projects proposed by a female senior Postdoc working on skin (-related) research projects.

The goal of this grant is to fund a novel project that supports establishing your own research group and scientific independence. Successful candidates will also be supported by a SFB 829 mentoring program.

The application requirements are:
– A minimum of two years of postdoctoral experience
– A detailed proposal that addresses

a) the difference from your main project carried out in the lab of your present supervisor

b) milestones that can be achieved within the funding period of two years.

c) your future career aims

The proposal of max. 10 pages should contain

  • Summary [½ page]
  • Report & state of the art [3 pages]
  • Project outline containing goals, working program, long term goals [4 pages] of a novel skin(-related) research project
  • Financial overview of estimated costs [½ page]
  • Short description [½ page] of your main project
  • CV [1 page]
  • A guarantee of the present supervisor that this project can be transferred to another institute upon obtaining your own independent (PI) position [1 page]
