Women in Science and Society lecture with Sarah E. Millar

The Women in Science and Society lecture series of the SFB 829 is traditionally co-hosted by the Vice-Rector for Gender Equality & Diversity of the University of Cologne, Prof. Manuela Günter. It brings internationally highly regarded female scientists to Cologne to discuss the role of female scientists in science and society. The aim of this lecture series is to provide role models for young researchers of all genders and to address how gender issues are handled in the speakers home country and university.

It is our great pleasure that Sarah E. Millar from the University of Pennsylvania is our guest on June 19, who will present results of her recent work in a first science lecture and further discuss important issues on the role of female scientists in her second society talk. Both talks take place in the CECAD lecture hall.

Science lecture: starts at 1.30 pm, title: “Epithelial Development and Regeneration: Insights from Mouse Genetics and human Disease

Society lecture: starts at 4.30 pm, title: “Women in Biomedical Research and Academic Medicine: Fixing the Leaky Pipeline

This time, this lecture series is embedded in a university-wide thematic week called “Diversity-week”, organized by the Vice-Rectorate for Gender Equality and Diversity and the Department for Gender and Diversity Management. During the week of June 18 – 22, different events with the main focus on “intersectionality” are organized by a range of departments of the University of Cologne.
